Serving Maine from coast to county line, Simpson Steel Building Company make owning a steel building straightforward and predictable. Whether you’re protecting equipment on a homestead or adding workspace for a growing shop, our metal building kits arrive ready for efficient assembly and long-term value. We listen first, align the kit to your priorities, and keep communication clear from estimate to delivery.
Professionally Manufactured & Shipped
Our pre-engineered packages include precision-fit framing, roof and wall panels, trim, and the hardware needed to erect a professional-grade metal building. You can choose practical options—insulation, gutters, lean-tos, light-transmitting panels—so function and appearance meet your goals. Because we’re a manufacturer, not a design firm, we offer minor adjustments within our standards and provide documentation to help you move confidently through local approvals.
Fit for Maine Projects
A properly engineered steel building shortens schedules and reduces surprises. Components arrive labeled and consistent, crews work faster, and you avoid guesswork that adds cost. Our patented truss approach focuses on buildability and value, giving you a durable metal building in California without unnecessary complexity, and a partner who answers the phone when plans or weather change. From small garages to mini storage, we tailor kits that respect your site constraints, timeline, and budget. Need wider spans or higher design requirements? We’ll discuss alternate framing so you get the right solution, not just a quick one. Expect realistic lead times, transparent shipping details, and support that keeps your project on track. Ready to turn plans into panels? Request a free quote today and let us deliver a steel building or metal building kit that fits your Maine property—professionally and flexibly.
Simpson Steel Building Company has been providing metal buildings to the great state of Maine for over 40 years. We’ve become very familiar with and kept up with local building code changes that have come up over the years. The high snow load requirements in the state of Maine typically mean that you will need to utilize our rigid frame building design as it gives you all the benefits of a traditional red-iron structure for a much lower price point!
Our bolt-together building kits are easy to assemble and only require a forklift or tractor with tongs to move around. This makes our metal building kit the perfect solution for anybody in Maine looking for an affordable DIY Kit for their project needs. Speaking of projects, our buildings work great for a multitude of uses, such as hay barns, stables, garages, shops, commercial buildings, and barndominium homes! In the event that you want someone to erect the building for you, we have a list of local contractors we can refer to help with that aspect of the project.
Simpson offers insulation packages that come in multiple thicknesses that you can add to your metal building purchase. Whether you need a 6” insulation package to handle the humidity on those warm summer days in or around Portland or Lewiston, you need bundle up in the winter months in Bangor or Bar Harbor, or maybe you just need a 3” insulation package for moderate temperature control, we’ve got you covered. Our standard insulation has a VR facing that is very similar to TVEK house wrap. It is a white polypropylene scrim kraft facing and has a very superior vapor barrier and perm rating. The facing is laminated with a flame-retardant adhesive that is reinforced with tri-directional fiberglass/polyester to prevent rips and tears.

Frequently Asked Questions
What should I do before placing an order?
Confirm your footprint, access for trucks, and any municipal steps on your path to construction. A simple site sketch with setbacks, utilities, and elevation notes prevents redesigns, reorder fees, and schedule slips. If a contractor will erect the kit, include them early so that equipment needs, staging, and safety plans align.
How can I improve comfort and energy performance?
Pair the kit with quality insulation, sealed transitions, and daylight panels where appropriate, and consider ventilation to manage moisture. Thoughtful door and window placement reduces heat loss, improves workflow, and elevates safety. Small choices—like foam closures, tape, and proper trim—deliver a noticeable difference over time.
What happens on delivery day, and who unloads?
You or your contractor unloads the truck. We share bundle counts, approximate weights, and handling guidance so you can stage a telehandler or crane, set a clean laydown area, and organize parts in build order. Good staging lowers crane time, reduces damage risk, and lets installation start smoothly.
